Professional Teeth Whitening at St Marys Dental

Teeth whitening is now one of the most popular choices of cosmetic dental treatment and can be one of the quickest and most effective ways to enhance the appearance of your smile.

As we get older our teeth naturally darken and can become stained through our lifestyle choices of drinking lots of coffee, tea or red wine for example, or bad habits such as smoking.

Teeth whitening can help to reverse the effects of aging and discolouration, helping you to achieve a sparkling, natural smile. We offer a choice of methods for whitening your teeth that can either be performed here at the practice in less than an hour or from the comfort of your own home for guaranteed results over the space of around two weeks.

Dental Veneers

Veneers are a very popular and aesthetically pleasing way of getting that million dollar smile you’ve always wanted.

Veneers are excellent for treating chipped, discoloured or misshapen teeth, especially at the front of the mouth. They can also be used to remedy irregular spacing, minor crowding and replace worn down enamel.

Veneers are thin, tooth coloured porcelain or composite shells that are custom-made to bond to the front surface of your teeth to restore or improve the aesthetics of the tooth. Veneers can best be described as being like false fingernails for your smile.

HOW VENEER TREATMENT WORKS

Tooth preparation is minimal and the veneers are bonded to the tooth structure with special resin cement. Generally, veneers are fitted in two separate appointments.

The first appointment will be for the tooth or teeth to be prepared for the veneers. This will involve numbing the teeth with a local anaesthetic so there is no discomfort during treatment. A small amount of the front surface of the tooth is removed and impressions taken so the final custom-made veneers can be prepared.

The veneers are then fitted at the second appointment to create a uniform, natural and healthy looking smile.
